Land Rover XSY 647 Ex Military Series 1

Stolen on the night of tuesday june 5th from Oxenhope, West Yorkshire was my mate’s Series 1 Land Rover. He’s owned it for more than 20 years, driven it every day in all weathers and as you can imagine, he’s devastated.

It’s a 1956, 88 Inch, series 1, with a petrol engine. Full ex-British army spec with many distinctive features including the words ‘Training Aid’ painted in yellow on the door and a faded regimental badge. Registration is XSY 647. It has a canvas roof and a bonnet-mounted spare wheel. I know I get readers on this blog who have an interest in historic vehicles. Please pass the word around before the trail gets cold. If you do see it about – this is a rare and distinctive Landy – please tell the police or get in touch with me at teninchwheels@gmail.com (click on the pics above to view larger).

Yes that is mine. Please keep an eye out guys, including bits appearing on sale. EX WD no 86BR99 Chassis no 111700225, frame no 1331. Engine no 57190884. Front axle 111700130. Rear axle 111701195. Gearbox no 111701045. Very original spec, unwelded chassis and bulkhead. Everything has many layers of bronze green on, military decals, tow hitch, drilled holes in odd places. my email is colwalker@btopenworld.com. Adrian, and of course Dave many thanks for all your support. Its gone a bit "viral" this and that is great. Eyes and ears are what we need. Really renewed my faith in human nature. Not that that was needed within the landrover enthusiast community! My good friend at ten inch wheels is going to put up a few more pics i think, so please have a look. Tending to think the vehicle is still near to me in the Bradford, Keighley, East Lancs border area, so if anyone knows where some of these scrotes inhabit, please have a nosy over a dry stone wall or two. Update. Still no sign, however another series one has gone from near Halifax. Stored out of sight in a barn. Confidence from police on some kind of result. We shall see. Apparently a thieving git who inhabits the Bradford area has recently been released from jail (when will we learn. In the states they call it "grand theft auto") and has gone back to his old ways, poor love. Watch your backs in West Yorkshire.
