The Int Cell

There is undoubtedly an interest in Green Laning, not surprising really when you consider the vehicles we covet and cherish. This forum is here for discussion of routes, contemporary issues and the social side of things. Anyone not playing nice will have their tyres let down.

A place to put your observations whilst out.
Lane obstructions, friendly contacts Local fuel prices, places to stay, places to eat.

Anything that will assist the planning of a successful Green lane venture.

Little off track but nearby no photos of RATTLE  Hands TOO busy to take a photo whilst crossing But tests the nevers the cross current makes it intresting. What I can not understand is way people with electic windows do not consider opening them for escape prior to entering the water.

BUT I THINK that there is a PERM TRO on this bit now.

THATS what happens when you leave it to others to write in and defend your rights.

March 2012 LRM Peakdistrict.

Postby mkeating » Sat Feb 11, 2012 10:26 pm

Hi Guys
only a quick scan thru the March issue of Land Rover Monthly.
Seems to be a solid artical written on the Peak District Lanes.
Worth a read if you are not aware of local issues, or just new to the Green Lane ethos.
WE take a very Dim view of the mistreatment of Lanes, by 'Boy's with Toys'.
Hope the article is of some value to the guys new to the Game, and will encourage some more 'Good guys' onto the Lanes.

Whilst reading a forum a couple of days ago (Forces) A comment I picked up on
If I may '' I am not going to tip toe thru life only to arrive safely at Death''

Call me old fashioned, but some things on this planet are worth saving.

Hello Martin

Thats quite a moving quote

I have had in a previous role the oppertunity to travel through country side and up hills to remote comms sites. My " work " vehicle was a V8 petrol LWB landrover.

Some serious torq there !

It was the early mornings when in the country side to see and hear wild life and the sounds of birds that remains with you forever

So I suppose I was greenlaning in a way LOL LOL but being paid for doing it

Last year as a group we attended an event within Sherwood Forest and to get to our pitch we had to go round and then deep inside the wooded area. The sight of four landrovers slowly making their way through the trees and bushes along a narrow track very early in the morning was a great sight to see. Walkers just smiled as we past by.

Keep up the cause

regards

Nick

Thanks Nick
Whilst On the Green you are doing it wrong if you are in a higher gear than 2nd. Nothing better than being on a lane - 1hr First light.
Joe public support the forces, so it helps break the ice being in a military landie, and provides a good talking point 8)
I do have another advantage I worked for the RSPCA as an inspector, so able to talk to horse riders / dog owners in areas of Their intrest this also breaks the ice 8) However if they get a bit Sh... then I just tweek it a bit and pick up on the horse looking hot or the loose sounding shoe.
Never mind the dog off the lead on a ROW and them not having water for the animal on a hot day.
Lanes in safe hands why not join us.

Incidently Tread Lightly not only aiming to Educate, but enforce, as I know of at least one region having a camera trap.

Guys
Yes I know its Two Wheels but info none the less.
This is but a stepping stone... a taste.
The Locals to the area can give us more info (TRO's etc) but it deplicts what is out there, how planning together with team work, makes for a cracking day out.
So guys Enjoy
Get inspired

FYI
As with any int cell the bigger the picture drawn The better the conclusion drawn.
http://www.trailbikemag.com/forum/viewt ... highlight=

ROW is at issue over Landownership.
What a surprise

TRF activities are two wheel based their radar is way ahead of any 4x4 guys.
Their eye is on forest tracks within the UK.(The Big picture) Not really an area where 4x4 venture unless in Wales. Long story on that.
Anyway point is... good to know what you'r friends are up to as much as you'r foes.
Watching the TFR watching the pedal club.
 Eh Nick
