A Compendium of High Roads and Road Passes in Great Britain

There is undoubtedly an interest in Green Laning, not surprising really when you consider the vehicles we covet and cherish. This forum is here for discussion of routes, contemporary issues and the social side of things. Anyone not playing nice will have their tyres let down.

Nice Link Grumpy :)
Not for the faint hearted nor fuel starved carbs in the summer, and unless cold weather survival trained not for the winter.
Basic mountain skills apply, and be prepaired to walk off the hill if it all goes pear shaped.

The ones local that I have viewed are just bog-standard high hills & the roads are public highway , however there is the odd "County White" that I know to be unsurfaced.

So good for a pre-amble to see if worth returning to , I suppose with Google Streetview - that can save a bit of time & fuel LoL

I am a bit out of it all after re-classification , need to swot up on RUPPS & BOATS etc.

I once made a appointment at County Hall with a person having some fancy official title IIRC "Highways Officer" , to view the "definative maps" , impression was - a very , very rare event - like some sort of weirdo :)

Noticed something of late (cost be additional fuel on a detour) - I don't like what a property owner has done. Quite clever , the "unclassifieds" in the area never had signs at junctions , these roads unfenced to fields. All of a sudden it seems , as not been in area regular - at a junction to next unclassified - huge stone pillars have been erected without gates , to frighten people off - fools you as if you are entering some "private - estate" with grand house. Need to go back to the County Big-House to check I am in the clear - then I will return , very often :)

Also - I will report this to the "Highway Officer" , it is quite a crafty method and I am certain it is legal, however I intend to write a complaint and demand that a road sign (with mileage to next village) be erected at this junction pointing direct towards this so called entrance

Hi Grumpy
RUPPS are a no go.
BOATS are place to start if new / or out of the game for a while.

RATTLE is fitted with a camera to record such finds as you'rs, helps to get a shot of the GPS location in the photo.
Audio record any conversation / altication (having informed first the other party) All helps if kick ar#e action to follow.
Its a dirty war and its our rights that are being surpressed

I have 'played'on the Hills and know enough to know my limits and to return under my own steam (be it on tyres or Boots.)
I also ride a Motor Bike so know ANY ROAD can kill Black or Green.

Before you ask Yes I carry smoke (as standard) should I have need of Casavac
Old habits eh
