No formal warning as yet from user groups, but be aware Norfolk is now an ash tree control Zone.
This will most likely extend.
Traces have been found of an Ash Tree killer decease.

So whilst out on the Lanes Please apply best practice and adopt BIO Securtiy measures.

Saw this on the TV today, it's a fungus that has and is having terrible results for ash trees in one of the Scandinavian countries. It has now made an appearance in the UK - as Martin rightly says.
Dutch elm disease, oak trees dieing back, now ash trees, one wonders if we are going to have any trees left (curtesy of continental diseases) apart from the dreaded leylandii
Hopefully the responsible department in charge of such things will step up to the mark and take some action and not dither about until it's too late
I'm no tree hugger, but I can remember the lines and areas of dead trees when the elms perished, seeing oaks fading around my parents way is sad, if ash trees start to go too our country side is not going to be the same.

Being a tree surgeon & landscape gardener, I've noticed in the last few years more & more die back on a variety of trees, but to all of you who don't like leylandii, there is a blight going around killing off the golden leylandii but not the green. Will be a shame if we start losing mountain ash though. What would Norfolk or Britain as a whole look like with even fewer trees than we have now. Look what it looked like after the "87" gales. On the local news this morning, the ash fungus has been found in County Durham, looks like the east coast is going to get it, blown across the sea I guess.
No mention about mountain ashes as yet, I hope not, we have a little one in our front garden.
